13 December 2008 Christmas Fun Day is a great sucess The return of the Christmas Fun Day to the 1EP calendar was enjoyed by lots of people a few weeks ago following a year's absence due to the group's Centenary celebrations earlier this year. As always there were plenty of the old favourite games for the children to play and to win toys, 'Beat the Buzzer', 'Splat the Rat' and Ten-Pin Bowling to name a few. There were also lots of prizes to be won playing the lucky dip, children's tombola, guess the snowballs and pick-a-nail games.
The day was enjoyable, but also completely exhausting! So... the group would like to thank everyone who helped put such a successful event together, including the leaders for giving so much of their time and the parents for their help in providing cakes and bottle donations.
All money raised will go towards the 'Raise the Roof Appeal' which is our current fundraising project. The group needs to raise £100,000 to replace the fragile and leaky roof. Ron Holloway (Group Scout Leader) was astounded by the success of the event saying, "Today has been magnificent and I would especially like to thank our leaders who manage to donate so much of their time to Scouting, whilst still juggling jobs and family life. We are overwhelmed with their commitment to 1st East Putney. All this hard work has raised in excess of £700 towards our roof appeal. We have also received some very generous donations from parents that will take the day's total to nearly £1,000. Thank you for all donations received, bottles, cakes and money, it is all very much appreciated".
The Scout Group have raised over £12,500 since the launch of the Scout Appeal in May, and many more fundraising events are planned next year, beginning with carol singing at the Putney Exchange Shopping Centre before Christmas.
12 November 2008 Carol Singing at The Putney Exchange The group will be carol singing to raise funds for our Raise The Roof Appeal on Saturday 13th December, between 2pm-3pm. We would appreciate it that all members of the group attend, including parents to support this special festive fundraising event. Please click here to print an attendence slip.

15 July 2008 '1ep garden project' launched! Many of you will be unaware that we have a garden at 1st East Putney!! Well, when we say garden, it is more like a piece of ground where we kindly let the weeds grow up to 4ft tall... But this area on the south side of the hall is under development and work has started to transform this waste ground into a wonderful garden for our children to hone their Scouting skills, plus it will provide a home for all the wildlife too. Click the flower pot to find out more!
15 July 2008 'Raise the Roof Appeal' launched! Many of you will have noticed over the past few years that our roof is in a pretty poor state. It is not surprising as our current HQ was built in 1922! Therefore it hasn't done too badly. However, there are only so many buckets that we can stratigically place around the floor to catch the uninvited rain! Therefore we have launched our most ambitious fund raising project in the history of 1st East Putney. We need to raise £100,000 to provide us with a new roof to ensure that Putney does not lose one of the oldest Scout groups in the world. We are not sure how we are going to do it... in fact we are all ears should you have any suggestions?? Click the link on the left menu for more details and to find out what our funraising total is to date?
18 May 2008 1EP Celebrates 100 years of Scouting! We are one of the oldest scout groups in the world! In fact we may actaully be the oldest... however Baden-Powell house are unable to determine this for sure, but let's just say that we have been here for a very very long time! The group's leaders and committee members organised this special event which included a BBQ, lots of memorabillia, camp fire songs and not to mention the appearance of our Chief Scout Peter Duncan, the Mayor of Wandsworth and our local MP Justine Greening. A fabulous time was had by all, so if you'd like a chuckle, click the centenary logo below which will then teleport you seemlessly to some very embarrassing pictures and also a film capturing the event.
